Founder -- Shade; A stocky dark grey molly with green eyes.
Welcome to ShadeClan, home of the strong and courageous. Here, we rely on the cover of the trees for food and safety. Our territory is covered almost from border to border in trees with only small clearings. There, you must be wary! Owls can find you here.
Our prey consists mainly of squirrels, chipmunks, mice, voles, shrews, small birds, and the occasional rabbit that strays from SunClan's borders. And of the three Clans who may hunt our prey on their own territories, we are the only Clan that can hunt in trees. Due to this, our pads are thick and adhesive, allowing us to climb even the slickest of trunks. And don't worry about falling. The ground is usually very spongey except when frozen in leaf-bare or dried up in the hottest Greenleaf.
Our camp resides in the heart of the forest, surrounded by protective walls of gorse and brambles. There are a few tight openings within the walls that provide secret escape routes from inside. The entrance is made of tightly-woven brambles, creating a thicket. The largest of Clan members should duck down so their ears aren't nicked. The Clan leader addresses the Clan from atop a lightning-struck tree trunk called the Lightning Trunk. The medicine cat den is a swath of ferns at the base of a large oak tree that the warriors den and nursery is housed in. A little higher up is the leader's den. On the ground behind the Lightning Trunk is the apprentices' den, housed in a protective hollow of thorn bushes. The elder's den, a mossy log, is across from the warriors den and nursery, set beyond a small stream that is also our main source of water. Beside the nettle patch is the dirt place, and beside the Lightning Trunk is the fresh kill pile.
Although we follow basic battle tactics, we have our own special move called the aerial dive. We climb up a tree and wait for our opponents or prey to pass beneath us. Then we drop down on top of them, claws unsheathed.
Like I said before, our territory is covered in trees.
But so we don't get lost, we have our landmarks:
Glowing Grove -- a mossy clearing so densely covered in moss, the sunlight looks almost green! This is a perfect spot to train apprentices the typical battling and hunting techniques.
Ancient Owl Tree -- an ancient oak tree that's turned grey from mold and webs of moss. Ticks are common to get here, so be sure to visit the medicine cat's den if you feel itchy. An owl lives here and occasionally rears young. But you're safe to hunt here during the day.
Lone Pine -- A huge, black-barked pine tree. Apprentices are trained to climb this tree before they can be turned into warriors. Jumping down from the lowest branches is dangerous enough to give you bruised paws for a quarter moon. But imagine a fall from the higher branches! This is why only the most experienced apprentices are brought here.
We share a border with SunClan, so once the grass gives way to thin, tough moor grass, and the bushes turn to briar patches, you know you're there. At another border, down a steep ravine is RippleClan's river. But we don't like getting our paws wet enough to go down that far.
